Agaete is one of the most beautiful areas in the northwest of Gran Canaria. It is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean in the west,
Gáldar in the northeast and Artenara in the south. The city offers contrasting landscapes, where the sea and green valleys extend towards the center of the island, giving this area with breathtaking views.
The town is a tangle of narrow streets departing from the historical center at the Plaza de la Constitución, where the Church of Iglesia de La Concepción is located, which in 1515 replaced the primitive chapel.
Agaete also has interesting green areas, which is a must for visitors: el Huerto de las Flores. A floral garden is actually a botanical garden in the city center with a large variety of exotic plant species. It was a meeting place for famous poets from the Canary Islands, such as Tomás Morales, Saulo Torón and Alonso Quesada.
