Artenara - narrow and winding roads lead to the highest located village on the island of Gran Canaria. Arriving at the village, we will be greeted by a large figure of Christ (Escultura Corazón de Jesús), reminiscent of the one from Rio de Janeiro.
Around the town, you have views of the high volcanic hills. It is worth taking a stroll to Mirador De La Atalaya or Mirador de Los Poetas, where you can best admire them. The town has a long history and it is hard to believe that in such unfavorable conditions the natives managed to create a settlement here.
A very interesting place in Artenara is a small chapel carved into the rock. La Ermita de la Virgen de la Cuevita was founded in the eighteenth century.
