Shitennō-ji is a Buddhist temple in Osaka. Sometimes it is considered the first Buddhist and oldest officially managed temple in Japan, although the temple buildings have been rebuilt over the centuries. It was founded in 593 by Prince Shotoku, who supported the introduction of Buddhism into Japan. The complex of temples is a 15-minute walk from Tennoji Station on the JR West Lines.
