Sumiyoshi Taisha is the main temple in the Sumiyoshi temple complex. It was founded in the third century before the introduction of Buddhism, it represents a unique style of architecture, called
Sumiyoshi-zukuri. Sumiyoshi temples worship with kami (Shinto gods) who protect travelers, fishermen, and sailors.
To enter the main area of the temples is a beautiful bridge Sorihashi, which creates an exceptionally high arch above the pond.
