Kotlarnia is a small village in the Opolskie Voivodeship. There is a Catholic church (a former Evangelical church), dating from 1815 -
built on the site of the previous wooden church from 1775.
Two people are associated with the village. Ernest Frederick Zwirner (born on February 28, 1802, in Kotlarnia). Son of a steelmaker who in 1833-1861 worked as an architect in the construction of a cathedral in Cologne. On the church, there is a plaque commemorating this personage. The second person is Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, who visited Kotlarnia and described this Silesian village in his travel stories.
